Training of officers of Trailing Suction Hopper DredgesDEMAS provides short in house training programmes for captains, mates and skippers of dredges and auxiliary in the process of dredging. Following the set up of a manual the crews of a number of dredges and members of the staff participate in a course where the experience of the crew is used to show the theoretical background to the dredging process.

Europort extension with Maasvlakte 2Provide borrow area assessment, working methods, planning and cost of extraction of sand from Marine Borrow Areas and reclaim at Maasvlakte 2, the projected Europort extension in Rotterdam. As follow-up a study of phasing the sand extraction and reclamation with civil works for the projected was executed and an assessment of tender dossier for the reclamation and auxiliary works for the extension of Maasvlakte 2 was prepared.

Course for Dredge Engineers (mechanical)
In co-operation with others the development of a training course for mechanical
engineers of dredgers for the Association of Dutch Dredging Contractors was
completed. The refresher course brings dredge engineers up to date with the
state of the art process control on modern dredges. After a pilot course was
conducted to test the response of the attendants the implementation of the
course was continued in 1996 and is continues lectured.

Technical assistance in production estimation
Long term technical assistance in production estimation was provided to a major
international dredging contractor based in The Netherlands. The DEMAS
expert assists in the preparation of production and cost estimates for complex
dredging and reclamation projects.
Dredging advise to Rijkswaterstaat for project "De Maaswerken"
DEMAS, via D.O.O.R. bv, assisted and advised a special task group within
the project organisation. During the design and planning stages environmentally
acceptable work methods including quantity, production and cost calculations
were developed and evaluated.

Inventory of sand borrow areas for the Maasvlakte 2
The Rotterdam Port Authority commissioned DEMAS dredging consultants bv to
review and assess the marine borrow areas for the preparation of the
Environmental Impact Assessment. The EIA is prepared for the supply of fill for
the land reclamation for the extension of the port into the North Sea.
